Training for Dancers


Alma graduated from the Anton Bruckner University (IDA) in Linz, Austria. Joining Norrdans as an understudy, she continued her professional career at the Choreographic Centre Linz, Landestheater Linz, Landestheater Coburg, Stadttheater Hildesheim, Landestheater Flensburg and Theater Hagen. Worked with Jeremy Shaw, Carlos Matos, Gerda Köning, Alfonso Palencia, Teresa Ranieri, Milli Bitterly, Rose Breust and Katja Erdmann-Rajski among others. Alma also danced with DIN-A13 and TanzSpeicher. Choreographic residencies at the C.C.Borges and guest speaker at the University of Oslo (Young Creators Symposium). Awarded with several grants by the Cultural Affairs Office of Bs As, Air France and Pierino Ambrosoli Foundation of Switzerland. Alma taught workshops in Australia, Canary Islands, Argentina and Peru. Guest teacher at the National University of Arts of Bs As, Porto Dance Conservatory, Marameo Berlin, Tanzfabrik Berlin, Dock 11 and Sunday Jam Berlin. Since August 2017 Alma is a Master student of dance pedagogy for professional education at Palucca University of Dance,Dresden.


Overview: This class is designed to improve dancers’ kinesthetic fine tuning, space awareness, and stamina. Conscious breathing lays the groundwork for a clearer understanding of three dimensional and voluminous physicality. Based on floor work and dynamic standing sequences, we will aim to create a receptive and available body, capable of truly perceiving itself as it moves. Exercises promote versatility, offering the possibility to work on diverse qualities. Awareness is brought to specific motoric initiations, working with different forces, rhythmicality and space engagement.

Format: The class begins with exercises focused on preparing the body and mind for physical work. Warming up consists of diverse tasks to promote blood circulation, global mobilization and the strengthening of core muscles. Physically engaging somatic practices and conditioning are prioritized in this section. As the class develops, we will dive into more complex floor and
standing phrases. Both forms are connected, and focus on strategic corporal organization, injury prevention, choreographic versatility and clear execution.
