Modern Jazz
Irina Spaar's modern dance course is based on the Simonson Technique, that has been taught for many years in the New York studio, Dance New Amsterdam (DNA). She brings in elements of ballet, jazz and modern and integrates them into her own language, which combines smooth sequences with accented movement in a unique flow.
The classes begin with a warm-up which focuses on each of the main muscle groups. It continues with dynamic stretching and tendus which lead into sequences at a higher tempo, such as exercises in falling or battements. In the second half of the class, we focus on a choreography, in which we apply the techniques we've learned.
