Class Description

“EMERGING PATTERNS” Cia Sonia Rodríguez

All external impulses influence our dance and manifest differently depending on our personality. Our perception, curiosity, senses and joy is building during the class through our physical body and the space awareness. Based on my personal movement vocabulary from my ongoing choreographic research that I investigate during all of my career, which includes floor work technique, different contemporary techniques and movement methods. It will be a continuous process, the class will start with a
warm up, a movement method that addresses the entire body, opening energy pathways, stimulating the lymphatic and nervous system, increasing the range of motion and creating functional strength inspired by Gyrokinesis® method.
Special attention is paid to increase the concept of three dimensional, spherical awareness and circularity movement through
different movement phrases.
Change of dynamic, movement quality, improvisation tools will appear during the class. The class will finish with more complex phrases combining different energetic qualities, different levels, working our presence and material from Sonia’s company repertoire.
The main goal is focussing on the safety of the body while challenging ourself to full physicality and mental awareness, stimulating our choices and creativity in a sharing space through our dancing.
