SUMMER SPECIAL WORKSHOP
Maté Moray is one of Israel’s leading dance personalities and ballet masters. He was born in Budapest, received his education and B.A. at the Hungarian Dance Academy. He danced with Hungary’s Győr Ballet and the Israel Ballet in Tel Aviv. He is former artistic director of the Israel Ballet, of the “Project” by the Israeli Opera and Suzanne Dellal Centre, and of several dance schools and courses. Today Maté is an international guest teacher and one of the most sought after ballet teachers in Israel. He’s one of the main ballet masters at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, artistic director of the Curtain Up project by the Israeli Ministry of Culture, and artistic advisor of the dance series of the Israeli Opera. In his ballet classes you’ll find a unique fusion between his Vaganova training and the Balanchine style, influenced by a wide range of classical, neo-classical and contemporary ballet repertoire.
“Classical ballet is a strict and difficult language. It is important for me to make each class accessible and a positive experience for the dancers. I aim to challenge the technique of the dancers and to clean it from mannerism, while offering information, references and thoughts to trigger an integral connection between physicality and mindfulness. This way oftentimes each class lingers on long after it’s over.”
